RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- PLO central committee member Nabil Shaath said he met with a number of European ambassadors to discuss the ongoing peace talks with Israel on Thursday.
Shaath said in a statement that he met secretly with the representatives of Italy, Norway, Austria, the UK and a parliamentary British delegation.
"We detailed the Palestinian position regarding final status solutions," he said, explaining that any agreement that does not serve higher Palestinian needs will be declined.
Shaath added that President Abbas stands firmly against attempts to impose Israeli demographic and ideological hegemony on the Palestinian territories.
He also called for supporting Abbas in this period to achieve the Palestinians' rightful goals.
"We received a position supporting our position regarding the terms of a just peace, and our right to establish and independent Palestinian state," he added.
Peace talks between Israelis and Palestinians were relaunched in July under the auspices of the United States after nearly three years of impasse.
Israel's government has announced the construction of thousands of housing units in illegal settlements since peace talks began.
