NABLUS (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained two young Palestinian men from Kafr Qaddum village in the northern West Bank late Saturday night, a local spokesperson said.

Murad Shteiwi, a spokesman for the local committees in the villages east of Qalqiliya, told a Ma'an reporter on Sunday that Israeli forces raided the village and detained 20-year-old Ubayy Mufeed Shteiwi overnight.

He added that earlier on Saturday evening, Israeli troops detained 25-year-old Sharaf Dawood Shteiwi at a flying checkpoint between the Nablus-area villages of Sarra and Jit.

The detainee, he added, is a police officer who was on his way back from work.

An Israeli army spokeswoman confirmed that one person had been detained overnight in Kafr Qaddum for their involvement in "illegal activity."

The illegal occupier tells the lawful occupant that he is doing illegal things. If it weren't so sad you could make a slapstick movie out of it.
