Israeli forces detain 12 Palestinians in overnight raids

NABLUS (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained 12 Palestinians in overnight arrest raids across the West Bank, locals and Israel's army said.

In Bethlehem, Israeli soldiers detained Safwan Riyad Abu Srour, 17, after raiding his family home in Aida refugee camp.

Ali Audah al-Rashayda, 48, was also detained in the Bethlehem area while driving to the village of al-Rashayida.

Sufyan Marwan Hudeib, 16, Yahya Muhammad Qneibi, 18, and Ahmad Waddah Shehadah, 22, were arrested in Hebron, while two arrests were reported by locals in the Jenin town of Arraba.

In Nablus, Israeli soldiers raided Askar refugee camp and detained Ismail Abu Fayid, 28, and Muhammad Abdul-Mahdi Abu Hayya, 25.

Two other men Hasan Abd al-Latif Abu Swelim, 24, and Issa Yousif Ahmad, 20, were detained east of Nablus.

Ahmad, a university student, was assaulted by Israeli soldiers during his arrest after he spat at Israeli forces, witnesses said.

Yasar Nassar, 23, was arrested in the Nablus village of Madama.

An Israeli army spokeswoman said 12 Palestinians were detained overnight, four in Hebron, three in Tulkarem, two in Nablus, two Ramallah, and one in Bethlehem.
