BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Palestinian diplomats could address the United Nations concerning a boycott of Israeli settlements if peace talks fail, a Palestinian diplomat said Monday.

Speaking to Ma'an on the condition of anonymity, the diplomat said that officials could address the boycott of "everything related to Israeli settlements."

Practical steps taken by the European Union and financial institutions have laid the groundwork for the Palestinian leadership "to give us the green light so we can take practical moves and openly ask the UN General Assembly to announce that it is forbidden for states and international companies and agencies to deal with settlements."

"One may say that such a decision by the General Assembly wouldn't be binding, but if 50 countries show readiness to this boycott, that will be a triumph," added the diplomat.

The PA could also apply to join the International Criminal Court and complain about "war crimes" such as illegal settlements.

In December, Dutch firm Vitens said it had come to the conclusion that it was "extremely hard" to work with the Israeli water company Mekorot on future projects "because they cannot be taken out of the political context."

Since Jan. 1, the European Union has blocked all grants and funding to Israeli entities operating beyond the pre-1967 war lines, sparking growing alarm in Israel.

Later in January, Norway's sovereign wealth fund blacklisted two Israeli companies involved in construction in annexed East Jerusalem.

At a time when the White House is pressuring Israel to make dramatic concessions, the Jewish State enjoys an all-time high popularity among Americans, and therefore among their representatives in the US House of Representatives and the US Senate. According to a February 18, 2014 Gallup Poll, Israel is the MVP (most favorite player) in the Middle East – 72% very/mostly favorable – leading all other Middle East countries by a dramatic margin: Egypt – 45%, Saudi Arabia – 35%, etc. ????? ???? : www.

1):Polls? Sadly,US polls reflect the views of those few POLLED & that can be very SELECTIVE. Rather than selectively poll Americans(whose general true knowledge of Zionism/Israel is minimal after maximal brainwashing)poll stats of UK,EURASIA,M/E,Africa,Indonesia(more of a global perspective)show the true view of 'love' for Zionist-led Israel.Such wider global nations(linked by trade/resources)are valued more by USG Corps.than belligerent EXCLUSIVE "Jewish"only Israel.USG can't survive EXCLUSION!

#1Let me tell you Palestinians what happened to the city of Montreal in the 1970's. Montreal was the city with just about every major head office of corporate Canada. The French population felt they were getting the short end of the stick which in a way was true but they never faced the fact that it was by their own doing. Radical groups started putting bombs in mailboxes and kidnapping politicians. The result was the quickest exit of corporate head offices and population of business brainpower.

The Canaanites/Amorites/Philistines/Midianites/PALESTINIANS were in PALESTINE long before Israel was even thought of. The PALESTINIAN's ancestors were there when ABRAHAM passed through from Babylon/Ur ...... Israel's "claim" to Palestine is based entirely on War Crimes and GENOCIDE written in a book that THEY WROTE and PLAGERIZED from the Egyptians, Babylonians, and EVERYONE ELSE in the area.. Palestina and Palestine. These two forms appear IN THEIR OWN BIBLE in poetical passages; Ex.15:14 Isa

To 'Israel MOST FAVORED NATION / IN THE MIDDLE EAST' #1: That's right. You hang tough. I recommend complete confidence, vigorous action, and an uncompromising attitude. Everything is just fine. Trust me.

#2 continued. The city of Toronto got everything we lost and has never looked back. My point being that the BDS will only push companies in the West Bank to look elsewhere. It is easy. I saw it with my own eyes. The lesson to be learned is talk about the problems and work them out no matter how difficult. Palestinians will need to give in and Israelis will need to give in. Palestinians holding out for " time is on our side" is a fallacy.

7 ) Boycott / Investments
24/02/2014 21:06
Palestinians like to boycott Israel - fine: Israel should help palestinians to boycott Israeli currency, electricity, telephone, internet, radio and tv broadcasting, Israeli land, air and sea transportation, Israeli education and healthcare systems, water, sewer, gas and fuel supply. Let see how long palestinians can survive their boycott of Israel. I am sure that in less than month palestinians would be back crying, complaining to UN and UNESCO and begging to end boycott.

8 ) Stupid / Mistake
24/02/2014 21:11
Palestinians are not known to make smart choices. But such a boycott would be compatible in its stupidity to other palestinians moves like rejection of the partition plan, starting intifada or voting Hamas into power. Palestinian can not stop making bad stupid mistakes, but they never learn from those mistakes. Boycott would be the stupidest mistake from all stupid palestinian moves: how long would they survive without Israeli currency, electricity, fuel, water, gas supply and everything else?
