BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- The final ceremony of an Italian-government funded project to support dialogue through education in three Palestinian cities took place in Jericho on Friday.

Palestinian and Italian officials as well as UNICEF and NGO representatives took part in the ceremony in the eastern West Bank city to mark the end of the three year-year project "Emergency educational support in the Palestinian Territories."

The project's objective was to "promote understanding among people and to contribute to the improvement of living conditions of the Palestinian people through the promotion of dialogue and peace through education," particularly by increasing educational opportunities and fostering cultural development, particularly for disabled youth.

The project, which was implemented in partnership with AVSI Foundation, the Custody of the Holy Land and ATS pro Terra Sancta, worked with 14 schools across the Palestinian capital of East Jerusalem as well as in Bethlehem and Jericho.
