AMMAN (Ma'an) -- The first all-female unit of the Palestinian presidential guard graduated in a ceremony held on Thursday in Amman, Jordan.

The 23-member unit will specialize in protecting officials, special operations, and anti-terrorism activities.

The group received tactical and technical training for the last three months in Jordan.

Although many women serve in the Palestinian security forces, the unit is the first all-female unit.

Even though it brings up memories of Ghadaffi's presidential guard, Abbas is no Ghadaffi, and Palestine is not Libya. Mabruk to the graduates and may their service to their nation be safe, proud and incident-free.
