RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Engineers in the West Bank who are employed by governmental institutions will go on strike starting Wednesday, a union said.

The union of public sector engineers said in a statement that the decision to strike came in response to unpaid bonuses that were due on March 26.

Representatives of the union recently met with Palestinian Authority officials and came to an agreement upon which the government would pay engineers a bonus for hazardous working conditions, the statement said.

But the PA Ministry of Finance has yet to pay the bonuses.
