JERUSALEM (AFP) -- Israel's chief negotiator with the Palestinians has told them that a planned release of 26 Palestinian prisoners cannot go ahead, a source close to the talks said Thursday.

Speaking on condition of anonymity the source said Tzipi Livni told a meeting with her counterparts on Wednesday that the release could not take place, as the Palestinians had unilaterally resumed moves to seek international recognition for their promised state.

PA should have let the process take its course and let the US release Pollard , this would have given much wanted advertisement in US about the ,peace process between israel and palestine , because these things are never reported in jew owned US media .

Palestinian prisoner release should be just the first, in a long
line of things that Israel cancels for the Palestinian Authority.

Palestine moved to seek recognition because Israel failed to release the prisoners.

Fatah demands. PA demands. Unilateral bad faith moves by both sides. However it began, the result is the same: termination of negotiations and another long wait. If Intifada 3 begins, or even if it does not, Palestinians will be the population hurt most. I appreciate pride and bravado, but Palestinians may soon discover their true cost.

Palestinians already have received recognition at the UNGA, but They were Never "promised state", by anyone that could deliver, and their "unilateral moves" have harmed their Authority's chances, of ever becoming a state, by the only one (Israel) who can deliver !!

- Suspension of high-level PA contacts, with any future PA contacts going through a Coordinator of Government Activities in Judea and Samaria, Maj. Gen. Yoav Mordechai. - freeze an implementation of 3G cellular technology in PA-assigned areas - stop the transfer into Gaza of communications equipment belonging to the PA cellular phone company Watania. - a freeze on promotion master plans for new communities in Area C, and - Israel is looking into further sanctions on the PA.

Let us not forget that Mahmoud Abbas, known as Abu Mazen, the peace partner whom Obama has propped up, and fully supported 100 percent, was once treasurer of the PLO, under Yasir Arafat, and is responsible for providing financing for the Munich Olympic attack that killed 11 Israelis. Next time Abbas threatens to go to the ICC, Israel should call his bluff, go straight to Ramallah, drag him out by his hair, in the middle of the night, handcuff him, jail him, and finally give him a proper jury tr

Of course it was called off. For the past month Palestinian leaders and negotiators have repeatedly said that their intention was to break off the talks. In which case, there is no reason to release convicted murderers.

'...the Palestinians had unilaterally resumed moves to seek international recognition for their promised state.' She was expecting them to wait for Israeli approval? Israel will never permit an authentically independent Palestine -- or to be precise, when she does, it'll be part of her death rattle.

Israel approached these negotiations with an utter lack of sincerity, and there was never any chance of a workable settlement. Everyone who understood Israel knew that from the first. The trick was to allow Israel to demonstrate the fact before breaking off talks -- and I'd say the Palestinians handled that part rather well. Now they can move forward...hopefully Israel will cooperate by continuing to be manifestly unreasonable.

I am from vancouver, canada and i wanted to say that Palestine got the right to go to the UN just like any other country in the world. So that excuse is worthless.Although the UN was responsible for Palestine been partitioned in 1947 which should be condemned. This makes the UN complicit in all the atrocities that israel has committed in Palestine since then. Its time for the UN to rectify this and stop supporting israeli apartheid.
