RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Palestinian Authority security forces late Saturday assaulted journalists and arrested four youths in Ramallah during a protest against normalization with the Israeli occupation, witnesses said.

Palestinians were protesting against an Indian band scheduled to perform at the Cinematic Ramallah al-Kasaba, the witnesses said. The band had performed in Tel Aviv days earlier. During the demonstration, Palestinians accused the band of normalization with the Israeli occupation.

PA security forces broke up the protest, assaulting journalists and cameramen and confiscating their cameras, witnesses said.

The forces also arrested Zayd Shuaybi, Fajr Amoud, Amoud Hamayil, and Fadi Quraan.

The ministry of culture initially said it had cancelled two shows the band was schedule to play in Bethlehem and Ramallah. However, at the request of high-profile PA officials, the ministry said it would allow the band to perform.

Good for the protesters&journalists. There is NOTHING normal about racist, colonial, ongoing OCCUPATION,where the occupied are expected to sacrifice ALL their culture&freedoms for a bag of crumbs dished out for 'good behavior'.The PA is NOT a free Palestine.Ramallah is a Jewish-controlled 'Good Arab' lab-rat camp, with Abbas in his Bantustan taking orders from his OPPRESSORS,Fear-Mongers-in-Chief across the apartheid wall!ASK India about kow-towing to colonialism! No assimiliation to oppression!

In these protests the names are always the same...I think these protests are more against the PA rather than Israel. I also have a feeling we're not told the entire series of events, there is more to this.

There you go, Americans and Europeans. Your hard earned tax money used to equip and pay the Palestinian "police". Your darling Palestinians 1) don't want peace and 2) the police beat them up for protesting against peace. You should be proud of both sides! The people for expressing your own desire to destroy the peace talks, and the police for making sure that everyone knows you are supporting yet another brutal Arab dictatorship. Mel and Sherri must be ecstatic, and Maureen dancing. u2 Colin?

Seems like the PA is all for normalization and sub-contracting the occupation from Israelis.
