GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- A Palestinian engineer originally from Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip was killed in an explosion in Homs in Syria on Saturday, his family told Ma'an.
A statement released by the Akhras family in Rafah explained that Eyhab Nasrullah al-Akhras was leaving Bilal al-Habashi mosque in Homs after Friday prayer when a booby-trapped car exploded.
He sustained critical wounds and was announced dead on Saturday.
Al-Akhras moved to Syria several years ago with his family.
The blast in Homs targeted a mosque and also killed thirteen others in a neighborhood under the control of pro-government forces amid a major offensive by government forces to retake the embattled Syrian city's historic center from rebel forces.
