RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Israeli settlers on Sunday chopped down more than 100 olive trees in the central West Bank village of Ras Karkar, locals said.

Witnesses told Ma'an that more than 20 settlers from a nearby illegal Israeli outpost chopped down the five-year-old trees in a private Palestinian field.

Locals say the attacks are an almost everyday occurrence.

Settler violence against Palestinians and their property in the occupied West Bank is systematic and ignored by Israeli authorities, who rarely intervene in the violent attacks or prosecute the perpetrators.

In 2013, there were 399 incidents of settler violence against Palestinians in the West Bank, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

These constant attacks by the Israeli settlers needs to stop. The PNA needs to start protecting Palestinian property and lives instead of just guarding Israeli a like the IDF.
