BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained 16 Palestinians in the West Bank in overnight arrest raids, locals and Israel's army said Monday.
Witnesses told Ma'an that over 25 Israeli military vehicles entered Kafr Qaddum, east of Qalqiliya. Israeli soldiers ransacked homes in the village and detained 14 men.
Among the detainees were two officers in the Palestinian Authority security forces -- 30-year-old Mufid Barham and 32-year-old Muhyi Ishteiwi.
The twelve others detained in Kafr Qaddum were identified as Abd al-Latif Jumah, Raed Barham, Musab Ishteiwi, Raafat Barham, Anas Barham, Samir Barham, Jaafar Jumah, Bartb Jumah, Udayy Barham, Usayd Amir, Diyaa Jumah, and Abdullah Jumah.
One witness said Israeli soldiers physically assaulted 47-year-old Walid Kamil Barham while they detained his two sons Wisam and Anas.
An Israeli army spokesman said soldiers arrested 16 Palestinians overnight -- one in Arraba near Jenin, two in Asira al-Shamaliya, one in Duheisha refugee camp near Bethlehem, three in al-Fawwar refugee camp near Hebron, and nine in Kfar Qaddum.
He said soldiers found "32 flash-bang grenades" and "four bats" during raids in Kfar Qaddum.
