BEERSHEBA (Ma’an) – The Jewish National Fund on Tuesday started tree-planting around the Arab Negev village of Awajan which locals consider a step toward displacing the Bedouin residents.

Locals told Ma’an that Israeli police detained the head of the regional council of the unrecognized Bedouin villages in Negev Atiyeh al-Asam along with three minors.

In addition, a city councilor from the nearby al-Laqiyya village Mirei al-Sani was officially notified by Israeli authorities that he must remove a tent in the village where protestors meet.

A higher guidance committee for Bedouin residents of the Negev denounced the detention of al-Asar while he was visiting the village of Awajan to attend protests against the Jewish National Fund.

“This detention is an attempt by police to frighten residents and discourage them so as to stop their legal struggle against their lands and houses,” said the committee’s facilitator Said al-Kharoumi.

Head of the northern Islamic movement in Negev Sheikh Osama al-Uqbi described the detention of al-Asam as a “political pursuit.” Knesset member representing the Islamic movement Talab Abu Arara also described the detention as “political.”

What is it that Israel fears.?What is it that will. bring about this" Security?.In the U.S.A. many people are completely unaware. It's always "God Bless America"But God doesn't have a favorite. Huge arsenals of nuclear weapons and "Super Power"do not make people secure. They make people arrogant.God doesn't. protect people from themselves.Americans are not that secure .It seems we never have enough guns. One day the people will become aware of what's actually going on.That day may come soon.

Over thirty percent of Israeli children are living under the poverty level, and twenty percent of Israeli population lives also under the poverty level. And Israel is starting forestation in the Negev desert. With all places, a desert. That's what happens when they use someones else money.

"What village? There's only a forest here." Gee, big surprise that the JNF is planting trees to erase the existence of Arab villages in the Negev much like they've done throughout the West Bank and Israel. This is well documented.

#2 It's deeply rooted in their propaganda. After all, they claim that only Israelis have managed to make the "desert bloom."
