JERUSALEM (AFP) -- Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas and Israel's chief negotiator Tzipi Livni met in London for the first time since the collapse of their US-sponsored peace talks, Israeli television reported Friday.

A Palestinian official, contacted by AFP, confirmed the meeting between Abbas and Livni, Israel's justice minister, on Thursday in London.

"Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was informed of the meeting but was angered by it," according to Israel's Channel 2 television.

US Secretary of State John Kerry held what were termed informal talks in London this week separately with both Livni and Abbas, who traveled on to Venezuela.

A US official said Kerry gave both sides the same message -- that the fate of the talks lies in the hands of the Israelis and Palestinians.

Kerry coaxed the Israelis and the Palestinians back to the negotiating table in July 2013 after a three-year hiatus, and both sides agreed to keep talking for nine months.

But peace efforts derailed even ahead of an April 29 deadline.

Remember similar"informal"(baby-steps)meetings 'tween white-S/African apartheid separationists(Zionists) & in genous black S/Africans(Palestinians) decades ago! That finally succeeded, thru' indigenous S/Africans refusing to sacrifice their lands&dignity, stolen by old-colonial rule. Same applies to neo-colonial Israel in Palestine. Palestine will not remain as barbed-wired/walled-off Bantustans enclaved further by flying check-points & Jew-only roads.HAFRADA is apartheid!USA can't PATRON THAT!

Livni and Abbas. One good Jew and one good Palestinian. The odds for both to come out with any deal is almost none. There is a big difference between being a Jew and being an Israeli. Both of them nowadays are not neccessarly the same. And Israel by recruiting some extremists to represent the jewish population made the matter worse. And it will be against Israel best interest in the area to recruit such ignorant people to anger the International community. Religious and non-Religious.
