GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Israeli military vehicles carried out two separate cross-border military incursions into the southern Gaza Strip on Sunday morning, witnesses told Ma'an.

The first incursion occurred east of Rafah as five bulldozers escorted by military vehicles leveled fields belonging to local Palestinians about 200 meters from the border fence inside the Gaza Strip.

Witnesses said that no gunfire was heard during the raid, but that military helicopters were seen in the sky.

Shortly after the first incursion, several Israeli military tanks crossed the border into the Gaza Strip firing gunshots into the air.

No casualties were reported during either of the raids.

An Israeli military spokeswoman did not return calls seeking comment.

Despite withdrawing settlers and military forces from Gaza in 2005, Israel maintains complete control over the Gaza Strip's airspace, territorial waters, and most land crossings.

It occasionally launches limited cross-border raids into the Gaza Strip on security pretexts, often razing lands near the border in the so-called "buffer zone" it maintains on the Gaza side of the border.

According to UNOCHA, 17 percent of Gaza's total land area and 35 percent of its agricultural land were within the buffer zone as of 2010, directly affecting the lives and livelihoods of more than 100,000 Gazans.

1 ) IDF is SCARED OF NEW / TUNNELS

they clear more and more land to try and detect the new tunnels that are dug all the time by BRAVE AND SKILLFUL GAZANS. Eventually one of those tunnels will yield the golden goose--Another GILAD SHALIT will be abducted!!!!

Perhaps it's just to show the unchosen who is in charge... To intimidate.. Bully.. Make their lives as miserable as possible.. Why? Because they can.. As if to taunt: "What you gonna do about it?" Such a sick and perverted society..

Maybe a tunnel will yield another Gilad Shalit or the murder of more Israeli civilians. However, this will result in another Gaza War in which many Palestinians will die and much damage to the Gaza strip will be done. Palestinians risk that Israelis use their full fire power against them, instead of treating them with kid gloves as they did in 200/09 and 2012.

Rats live in tunnels and burrow in the filth.

1- If Gazans were so "brave or skillful", then their militants would Not be hiding behind the women and children in the Gaza Strip's cities, and they would fight to smuggle, abduct, & murder, instead of hiding in tunnels !! 2- If "eventually one of those tunnels yields again a golden goose", this time: [a] It will be a Gaza blood-bath, since Israel continue hunting for him, regardless of Gaza civilian casualties, and [b] Israel will Not even consider swapping 1,000 murders for 1 man !!

And if that were to happen #1 there would be 100's more dead Palestinians! Is that what you are hoping for? I do not see skill in digging a tunnel!!

Is there a recognizable sequence? Israeli incursion into buffer zone, followed by rockets from Gaza, followed by air strikes by Israelis? Why is the Isaraeli buffer zone on the Gaza side of the border?
