JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- Three days of activities entitled "The Global March to Jerusalem" were launched on Friday to mark global solidarity with the residents of Jerusalem on the 47th anniversary of its occupation by Israeli forces in 1967.

Marches associated with the day of action are being held in 80 cities across 42 countries around the world, organizers said, and will move in the direction of Jerusalem from wherever they are.

Groups from Jordan, for example, will march to the Jordanian border with the West Bank to participate in the march.

Major countries that are participating in the march include Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Mauritania, Malaysia, Turkey and Iran, among others.

Director of the Jerusalem International Foundation Yassin Hammoud called on Palestinians, the Arab public and official institutions to participate in the March and it's activities in order to send Israel a message that Arabs and Muslims will stand together to protect Jerusalem and al-Aqsa mosque.

Hammoud also called on the international community to stand with justice and penalize Israel for its acts of "racial discrimination that are against international laws."

Israel maintains a policy of "Judaization" in Jerusalem, which limits the distribution of building permits to Palestinian residents while constructing large numbers of housing units for Jewish Israelis.

The Global March to Jerusalem has been organized by activists around the world since 2012 to focus attention on Israeli policies in Jerusalem.

East Jerusalem has been under Israeli occupation since 1967.

Bravo!Set your moral, compassionate, spiritual, human compass on pluralistic Palestine & Jerusalem. And,I'm sure Riyadh won't mind if global Muslims focus on Islam's 3rd Holiest site, because w/out the Jerusalem part--for all monotheistic faiths & even agnostic/atheist historians/academics--the monotheistic/historical jigsaw is incomplete! As a white American Christian/Protestant,I'll pray with all who want real peace,in the Holy Land,on Friday,Sabbat & Sunday, lol! Bravo!Encore!
