NABLUS (Ma'an) -- A group of over a dozen settlers planted olive trees on private Palestinian land in the Nablus village of Jalud on Tuesday, a Palestinian official said.

Ghassan Daghlas, an official who monitors settlement activities in the northern West Bank, told Ma'an that settlers from Esh Kodesh settlement planted dozens of olive tree saplings on land belonging to Rashid Muhammad al-Haj Muhammad and Ahmad Abdul Majid al-Haj Muhammad.

Over 60 percent of the West Bank is considered Area C, where Israel has exclusive control over security, planning, and zoning.

The majority of all illegal Israeli settlements are located in Area C, 70 percent of which is off-limits for Palestinian construction.
