RAMALLAH (Ma’an) – The Palestinian workers’ union official said that an urgent meeting was held Tuesday to discuss ways of supporting hunger-striking prisoners after they entered a dangerous stage.

Bassam Zakarneh said that the council of the union was calling upon the world, the UN, Arab communities and civil institutions to intervene to save the prisoners from "certain death."

The council called upon Egypt to intervene to end the suffering of the hunger-strikers through pressuring Israel.

The council also condemned Hamas for preventing employees and others from withdrawing their wages from banks. It called on Hamas to stop these violations.
