BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- The EU is "deeply concerned" by reports of the deteriorating health conditions of hunger-striking Palestinian prisoners, a statement said late Friday.

A spokesperson for EU Foreign Policy Chief Kathryn Ashton said in a statement that the EU "calls for the full respect of international human rights obligations towards all Palestinian detainees and prisoners."

Meanwhile, over a hundred Palestinian prisoners, most of them administrative detainees, entered their 52nd day of hunger strike.

Hunger strikers are demanding Israel end its policy of administrative detention, by which prisoners can be held in custody without charge or trial indefinitely.

-1- Ms Ashton's or the EU's "deep concern over deteriorating health of hunger strikers" is of little or NO concern at all to Israel, and -2- Israel already exceeds "all international human rights and obligations towards Palestinian prisoners", including prolonginh their lives when they try to starve themselves to death.

So, let them eat. Let Hamas and PIJ agree to abide by international law and Israel would probably release them all. However, Hamas and PIJ continue to spit on the UN, on the EU, and on all civilized countries. Hamas in Gaza still arrests journalists, condones the honor killing of women and Christians, and even the Egyptians have correctly labeled them a terrorist organization.

@2-Brian, try seeing a doctor & get medication, no shame & helps with the delusions. Which part of international law would you like?? Democratic elections (oops, USRAEL vetoed that when Hamas won). Right to self determination (current unity gov doesn't go down well with Bibi). Right to defensive resistance against military occupation (oh, terrorists!!). Isn't collective punishment a war crime (no, cos its Israel). A parlance avec Hamas/PIJ & Israel might clear the air, but Israel hates the idea.
