HEBRON (Ma'an) -- Israeli bulldozers early Tuesday demolished a Palestinian home in the Hebron town of Idhna, a local official said.

Idhna mayor Hashim Tmeizi told Ma'an that bulldozers escorted by Israeli forces arrived in the Khirbet al-Ras neighborhood of the village and demolished a two-story house.

The residence, which belonged to Muhammad Hussein Farajallah, measured 200 square meters and housed a family of six.

A spokesman for Israel's civil administration told Ma'an the house was constructed "illegally," without responding to requests for further details.

Israel rarely grants construction permits to Palestinians in the West Bank, and regularly demolishes structures built without permits.

In May, the EU missions in Jerusalem and Ramallah urged Israel to halt home demolitions in Area C of the West Bank, describing such actions as "forced transfer of population and demolitions of Palestinian housing and infrastructure."

Israel has demolished 248 Palestinian structures and displaced 492 people so far in 2014, according to the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions.

Some 27,000 Palestinian homes and structures have been demolished by Israel since it occupied the West Bank in 1967.

I'm sure it has everything to do with legallity and nothing to do with the fact ghat the home is in Hebton where 3 kids went missing. This reeks of heavy handed retaliation and quite typically, Israel is acting like a bull in a China shop.

to Aron #1: '...quite typically, Israel is acting like a bull in a China shop.' A more apt metaphor is Germany's response to Vom Rath's assassination. Like his spiritual predecessors, Netanyahu is taking the opportunity to stage a Kristallnacht. Bulls may not work out in china shops -- but they're not Nazis.

The family took a gamble by building. It lost that gamble. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.

Yes, Outlier/USA, if you build a house on your own land you would gamble and have a 50 percent chance that it would not be bulldoozed.

4., Terry, if i do not have a permit for building that building on my land then I am gambling. When you gamble, you sometimes win and sometimes lose; that is why it is called gambling. BTW, it is "bulldozed," though your spelling was pretty amusing.
