BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces shut down two major checkpoints in the northern West Bank on Wednesday, cutting traffic on a major north-south artery between Nablus and Ramallah while the army continues to deploy heavily across the West Bank.

Witnesses told Ma'an that Israeli forces shut Zaatara (Tappuah) and Huwwara checkpoints south of Nablus on Route 60, and that hundreds of vehicles were stuck at the checkpoint as of Wednesday just after noon.

Witnesses added that Israeli forces on the scene had not offered any information on the reason for the closure.

The closures affects hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, as Route 60 is the central artery connecting the northern and central West Bank.

Israel has regularly erected checkpoints and shut down major roads in the West Bank since last Thursday, when three Israeli teens went missing from the Jewish settlement of Gush Etzion near Bethlehem.

Israel has two reasons doing this..hoping to shake the tree so hard that a pebble of info pops out....and to keep them from sneaking the boys to Jordan or gaza...

What about the killing/kidnapping and terrorising of palestinian kids and teens, who supports there human rights and dignity. We know violence is no solution, therefore israel stop your occupation and illegal settlements and if you fair dinkum with the peace process work towards it and not against it. Your propaganda is crumbling down on you, and people are aware who the real aggressor is. How do you explain the neo nazi groups "pricetag" and "hilltop" in israel when you call hamas a terrorists
