GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Egyptian authorities closed the Rafah crossing with Gaza on Thursday, having opened it for four days to allow pilgrims and humanitarian cases to cross.

The Palestinian border and crossings department said in a statement that 868 passengers left Gaza on Wednesday.

The imprisonment and collective punishment of a whole population under miserable conditions of shortages and poverty is a crime against humanity as well as being stupid in terms of its alleged justification as for "security measures". There is only so much suffering anyone can tolerate and desperate traumatised people will take desperate measures.
