RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- A 22-year-old youth on Friday was pronounced clinically dead after suffering wounds during an Israeli military raid on Qalandiya refugee camp south of Ramallah.

Mustafa Hosni Aslan was shot in the head by Israeli forces when they raided the camp before dawn on Friday, one of three Palestinians wounded in the camp.

After being taken to Ramallah Governmental Hospital he was subsequently moved to Jerusalem's Hadassah hospital earlier in the day, and he was pronounced "clinically dead" by Israeli medical officials there just after noon.

His death was announced in Qalandiya refugee camp only hours after it had been announced that he was injured, not killed, leading to a state of shock for many residents upon hearing the news.

Locals said that youths had thrown rocks and broken bottles at the Israeli troops when they stormed the camp, leading to "violent" clashes.

Two other Palestinians were shot during the raid, one in the stomach and one in the side.

Israeli forces confirmed the raid and the shooting, saying that they responded with live fire after a grenade was thrown at Israeli forces in the camp.

Mustafa Aslan at the hospital before he passed away.

Aslan would have been the second Palestinian shot dead on Friday. Earlier, 14-year-old Mahmoud Jihad Muhammad Dudeen was killed by Israeli forces during clashes in the southern West Bank city of Dura.

The killings come on the one week anniversary of the disappearance of three Israeli youths from the Jewish settlement of Gush Etzion.

Since the disappearance, Israeli forces have killed two Palestinians and injured dozens in a massive search operation across the West Bank as well as nightly bombings of the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli military said on Friday that in the past week, they have raided 1150 "locations," including homes, charities, universities, and offices, and detained 330 Palestinians, out of which 240 were affiliated with Hamas.

Israel has also imposed widespread closures in the southern West Bank region of Hebron, where Israeli authorities suspect that Hamas-affiliated kidnappers may be hiding.

Although Israeli authorities have presented any evidence publicly of Hamas involvement, they have vowed to "crush" the movement.

Correction: Mustafa Aslan was initially declared dead by medics, but his condition was upgraded to "clinically dead." He passed away on Wednesday after being taken off life support.

For Maan News a "22-year-old" Palestinian is called "youth"; there is no mention of the firebombs and rocks hurled by these "youth'; the kidnapping of three Israeli YOUTHS (ages 16-17) is called "the disappearance of three Israeli" as if there is still a question about the three having being kidnapped. The Maan News Agency is not about news and should call itself simply the Maan Palestinian Public Relation Agency.

Rivkah, the only repressive government is the Israeli one. Killing of the Palestinians, the occupation and the illegal settlements those are the real problems there. Those boys of yours are probably chilling somewhere in a 5-star hotel, paid by Bibi himself. Now he has an excuse to kill and attack the Palestinians. Hopefully they'll put your evil Israeli terrorist government in front of the international criminal court soon!

If you had children who were young and in serious danger, or even someone with a decent sense of compassion, they would not be refered to as run aways or in a 5 star hotel. This is a serious situation and you obviously are completely out of touch with normal social values and I wonder if even writing this comment will make any difference to people on the other side of the world, watching t.v. Both governments are repressive, its an act of responsibility for both sides to keep the children safe.

Jane,, they are not young. Comprehend for one minute that youths from all nations leave home at all ages. Saying that Israeli youths wouldn't run away is like saying Americans don't eat cheeseburgers. That's just the way it is. The Israelis are the oppressors, and if they are not felt with now they will when they stand before god to be judged

@ Jossef - get out of Palestine then and take your murderous colonizers with you! That usually fixes the problem of "youth with rocks" defending their people, homes and communities from cold-blooded killers armed to the teeth...

Folks, just imagine YOU stay heavily armed, wearing israeli forces clothes and all the other high tech stuff. Just some metres in front of you is a 14 years old boy. Okay, let him throw stones - that doesnt make ANY difference. But the question is: COULD YOU shoot him?? THAT IS BARBARIC AND INHUMAN!! For me those people, who shoot children dead, belong to the same category as RAPISTS!! This is one of the biggest human crimes, history have ever seen. What a shame ...

Jossef and Kivkah not even the Israeli government was capable of providing one single evidence that the boys have been kidnapped the Palestinians. And let's hypothetically assume it is true, how can you justify the killing of innocent children by that?! Aren't you ashamed of yourself!? Palestinians are have been raped, killed and mistreated for decades! Where was your voice then?? Israel is a terrorist state! Thank God there are still some honest Jews out there who speak up the truth!!
