GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Israeli air forces launched a series of airstrikes across the Gaza Strip on Sunday morning, targeting four Palestinian militant group bases.

The airstrikes have become a nightly occurrence in the last week, as Gaza militant groups have increased rocket fire into Israel in apparent response to a massive Israeli arrest campaign across the West Bank.

Witnesses told Ma'an that Israeli fighter jets fired missiles at empty military bases belonging to Hamas' military wing Al-Qassam Brigades in Bani Suheila east of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip as well as in Deir al-Balah in the center.

Airstrikes also targeted an empty military base belonging to Islamic Jihad's military wing Al-Quds Brigades in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.

Palestinian medical sources confirmed there were no injuries.

The Israeli military confirmed the strikes in a statement, noting that they targeted four "terror activity sites" in response to three rockets launched from Gaza on Saturday evening.

The statement said that since the beginning of the Israeli arrest campaign across the West Bank June 13, 22 rockets had been fired from Gaza, of which 11 hit southern Israel, three were intercepted by Iron Dome, and the rest landed inside Gaza.
