GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- The former Gaza prime minister said Monday that “the Intifada in the West Bank had begun and all Israeli threats do not terrify Palestinians.”

Ismail Haniyeh said that “what is happening in the West Bank is the Intifada itself and Gaza is not far from making big news.”

Haniyeh added: “The Israeli threats do not terrify Gaza nor the West Bank.”

Earlier Monday, a high-ranking Israeli military officer said the major Israeli military incursion in the West Bank will come to an end in a few days.

Speaking to the Hebrew-language news site Walla, the officer highlighted that after 11 days, the military operation across the West Bank, with a focus on Hebron district, has failed to find a clue leading to the three teenage settlers believed to have been kidnapped in the southern West Bank.

The officer pointed out that overnight detention raids would not stop, although the major incursion would come to an end. He added that the operation started against what he called “terrorist infrastructure” of Hamas immediately after the Israeli political echelon announced that Hamas was behind the kidnapping.

After 11 days, added the top Israeli officer, the military operation can’t continue in the same pattern especially after the Israeli forces have almost completed their “bank of targets”.

Surprisingly, the officer said the army considers the operation a success, despite that it failed to lead to a clue about the missing teenagers. The success, he added, is based on the fact that large numbers of Hamas supporters have been detained, and that the infrastructure of Hamas in the West Bank has been crippled.

He is either foolish, stupid or arrogant. Palestinians deserve better, smarter former leaders and deserve MUCH better, smarter current leaders.

What a sick society Palestine has become. Or maybe it was always a sick society where its leaders encourage Palestinians to kidnap and murder children. BTW - the success is partly due to the discovery of about a dozen illegal weapons labs and confiscation of weapons just like the ones used over the years to attack and kill Israeli civilians - another sick cultural feature of "Palestine" - the encouragement and rewarding of those Palestinians who kill Israeli civilians. Sick sick sick.

Active,non-violent resistance,to Israel's military occupation,land/resource theft is legal &justified.Palestinians don't NEED to call it an intifada. That's something Israel's junta wants,to launch MORE military,ShinBet,Mistavarim thuggery &killing.Israel is going thru'it's OWN intifada too i.e. against even-more-radical terrorist Zionism.Israel's having MORE problems with violent Jews-only colonists, than it EVER had withANY Palestinians.Israel is totally screwed by it's Zionism.Implosion!

Is not Haniyeh the wrong who said if Israel entered Gaza he would lmake it a graveyard for Israeli soldiers? Instead it was a graveyard for Hamas soldiers who did not run away and put on women's clothing and hide in bunkers.

They consider it a success, cos it was never designed to find the 3 soldiers, who are undoubtedly holed up somewhere comfortable watching the World Cup. The purpose was to crush Hamas & divide the Palestinian unity government. It has NOT succeeded, as time will tell - all it has done is kill & injure dozens, incarcerate hundreds, destroy civilian, commercial and public property - & further tarnish Israel's international reputation. How twisted & deluded Israelis are, if they call that success!

#5:I agree! Israel knows that someone on their side(probably Jews inside the radical colonies)have pulled this false-flag off.Look inside the Jews-only bomb-shelters of the Kibbutzim, the young men are ? holed up there, watching FIFA with RAVSHATZ bringing them pizza?Haniyeh also knows that PA/Fatah are making a real balls-up of unity, which takes the blame OFF Hamas. And resistance is always LEGAL against occupying oppressors.Ask the Jewish underground resistance members, from WW2!
