GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Two Palestinians were killed and two others wounded on Friday afternoon after Israel's air force bombed a car traveling near al-Shati refugee camp in Gaza City.

A Ma'an reporter said that an Israeli plane targeted a black Kia vehicle with two missiles, killing Muhammad al-Fasih and Usama al-Hassumi.

Ashraf al-Qidra, the Gaza spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, said the bodies of the two men, who were residents of the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of Gaza City, were taken to Shifa medical center.

The killing is the first targeted assassination by Israel since the formation of the Palestinian national unity government at the beginning of June.

The two were apparently affiliated with the Al-Nasser Salah al-Din Brigades, the military wing of the Popular Resistance Committees.

The Popular Resistance Committees is a Gaza-based militant group that opposes negotiations with Israel and frequently fires rockets from Gaza.

It has no connection to the local popular resistance committees against the separation wall that exist throughout the West Bank.

Israel's army said it targeted the "terror operatives" due to their involvement in launching rockets at Israel over the past week.

Both men were planning further attacks against Israel, it added.

The strike comes amid increased tensions across the region as an Israeli military campaign across the West Bank enters into its second week.

The campaign, which is the largest deployment since the early 2000s, has left eight Palestinians dead, more than 130 wounded, and more than 560 detained.

It has also meant near nightly airstrikes for Gaza, as Israeli forces pound the besieged coastal enclave in response to rocket attacks by local militants angry about the West Bank offensive.

These two senior members of the Popular Resistance Committee that were hit in an IDF airstrike, while they were driving through the al Shati refugee camp in Gaza – near Hammas leader Ismail Haniye’s residence. Mohammed al-Fasih and Usama al-Hassumi were members of Salah al-Din Brigades.minister, Moshe these two will no longer be involved in missile launching and plotting terror attacks on the sole Jewish State of Israel.

War sucks. Palestinians shoot rockets at Israeli civilians, and kidnap (and probably murder) teenage high school students. Israel kills the Palestinian commanders behind the rocket firings. The anti-Israel commenters will cry crocodile tears over "extrajudicial executions" by Israel, but scream and wail for convicted Palestinian murderers to be set free from Israeli jails. In other words, the Palestinians have convinced some people that they have the right to kill. Nobody does. Peace talks now!

@1: The first sentence is already false: "Israel" is an occupier and exercising state terrorism. That's why you get resistance. And you mean "Israel" has convinced the world they have the right to kill in self-defense, being the 4th military power on earth and occupying another people, stole and still stealing their land? And there is nothing wrong with that? Peace talks? You mean Piece talks.

Israel should launch 7 projectiles back at Gaza this and every time, until the people of Gaza condemns Hamas and all the militants, for trading Palestinian blood - both militants' & civilians', for the essentially unnoticed holes in Israel's desert sands, that the stupid militants' mortars and rockets can make !!

Good riddance to bad rubbish..my Irish father used to say...another thing he thought me ..if ever anybody picks on you ,or calls you a dirty Jew..kick the living s..t out of them...so much as they will cross the street when they see you next...problem is that Israel is so worried what the world thinks they treat the Arabs with kid gloves..all that does is encourage them...and the world,,they hate us no matter what....when will Israel ever learn this?....likely never

Gaza home to 1.5 million, the IDF identifies and tracks two terrorists, waiting for an opportune moment to minimize collateral damage. Why doesn't Hamas ask themselves: how did the IDF know about these two? It's not the first time this has happened.

To Tibi #5: 'Israel should launch 7 projectiles back at Gaza this and every time, until the people of Gaza condemns Hamas and all the militants, for trading Palestinian blood...' Why don't you do that? Why don't you use exactly the same ordnance the Palestinians use? No more and no less. And why don't you trade killings with them, one for one? For once, I'm with you 100%, Tibi. When's Sabra and Chantila going to be?

To Johnny benson #6: '......problem is that Israel is so worried what the world thinks they treat the Arabs with kid gloves...' That's definitely unconcious -- if grim -- humor. Israel won't even consider setting up the Bantustans Apartheid South Africa was pushing, and proportionate to Israel's population, Sabra and Chantila was roughly equivalent to Babi Yar. Yup, REAL softies. You're sick.
