GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Unidentified assailants damaged a number of ATM machines in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday and stole security cameras from the scene, bank employees said.

Some of the banks shut down their ATMs following the acts of vandalism.

It is thought that the attacks are linked to an ongoing crisis surrounding the Hamas employees of the former Gaza government, who have not received their salaries following the announcement of a unity government.

Employees of the previous government see it as Ramallah's responsibility to pay their salaries, but the new unity government says no such agreement was ever made with Hamas.
