JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces started a detention campaign early Tuesday in the neighborhoods and villages of Jerusalem.

A Ma'an reporter said that Israeli forces raided the village of Sur Bahir, town of Silwan, the al-Tur neighborhood and the old city of Jerusalem where they made several house raids and detentions.

An attorney for Addameer rights group said that 31 Palestinians from Jerusalem were detained early Tuesday and transferred to investigation centers in the city, and that the number is expected to increase during the day.

Israeli police declared that they detained three from the village of Beit Safafa and a minor from Wadi al-Juz.

A Palestinian Prisoner’s Society’s lawyer said in a statement that the Israeli police extended the detention of Muhannad Safadi, Ibrahim Qaddus, Abdullah al-Julani, Ibrahim al-Julani, Tariq Idrees, Walid al-Rashq and Hamadi Mulazim.
