LONDON (Ma'an) -- Thousands of people gathered outside the Israeli embassy in London on Friday to protest Israel's assault on the Gaza Strip.

A crowd protested outside of the embassy, located in the borough of Kensington, as a main road was blocked for several hours and helicopters kept an eye on protesters.

Politicians including George Galloway and Labor MP Jeremy Corbyn spoke at the event, with passions running high among spectators.

Tony Blair's sister-in-law, Lauren Booth, also spoke at the protest, condemning Israel's bombardment of the besieged enclave.

The BBC's reporting of the ongoing assault was largely booed by the crowd, who called for an end to the attacks which have killed some 160 Palestinians.

Thousands rallied across Asia to denounce the Israeli offensive and show support for Palestinians.

Around 3,000 gathered in Sydney while hundreds more gathered in Hong Kong, New Delhi and Jakarta holding up banners condemning Israel and in support of the Palestinians.

If you are far away from the next demo, let your government know it is not appropriate to address this genocide with "Israel has a right to defend itself." And a tormented occupied Palestine doesn't? Please, wherever you are, in whatever country, let your voice be heard. There were at least 10,000 at Saturday's demonstration. It would be quite a stretch to label such numbers as anti-semitic.

Next demo will be massive, we all stand together for Gaza in this blessed month of Ramadan. After that,, good things might happen.

This is brilliant! If only we could rally people in the big US cities to do the same. I am a member of a group NJP, Northfielders for Justice in Palestine/Israel, and we are horrified at the Mass Media in the US always reporting the Israeli point of view. There are some of us in Mid America who know what is really happening, and we do what we can.

We need more rallies like this in Atlanta!

For some of us that cannot rally or join a rally of support to the people in Gaza, social networking is the only way to show our support and the end of the hostilities. Not using the social media to promote hatred and incite violence as some Israelis are waging.

To Barbara Hill: You are 'horrified' that mass media shows a sovereign country protecting its citizens. Yet you aren't horrified that a few miles away in Syria Mr. Assad has killed over 150,000 people! You need a checkup from the neck up. Assad uses poison gas, artillery, jets, etc, and wipes out entire neighborhoods. Israel sends emails, phone calls, knock-on-the-roof warnings to avoid killing innocent people, yet you seem to ignore all that. Wake up, Barb!
