GAZA CITY (Ma’an) – Palestinian resistance groups continued to lob missiles and homemade projectiles towards Israeli cities southward and northward.

Some groups released statements claiming responsibility for rocket attacks, while others didn’t.

The military wing of the Popular Resistance Committees, the al-Nasser Salah Addin Brigades, said in a statement that its fighters fired six projectiles at the Israeli settlement of Zekeim.

Similarly, the National Resistance Brigades, a military wing of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and the al-Asifa Army, an offshoot of Fatah’s al-Aqsa Brigades, said in a joint statement that their fighters fired two Grad missiles at Eshkol regional council.

The fighters were targeted by Israeli warplanes, but they survived, according to the statement.

In a separate statement, the National Resistance Brigades said four homemade projectiles were fired at Ashkelon.

The groups said in their statements that the shelling was in retaliation to the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people.

Human rights groups all agree: shooting rockets at civilians is a war crime. Hamas and all these other groups are war criminals. As soon as Palestine joins the ICC it will be obligated to arrest them all. That is what a state of Palestine means - are the Palestinians up to the task, or do they simply like shooting at civilians all the time?

Hamas' attacks are achieving nothing. Israelis are laughing at the terrorists: "Poor missile — traveled 70 kilometers to Tel Aviv and couldn’t find a parking spot." "Rockets on Nes Ziona, Rehovot, Tel Aviv, and Rishon Lezion. But nothing in Rosh Haayin and Gedera. Does Hamas discriminate against Yemenites?" "Israeli men should thank Hamas for proving once and for all that Israeli women can actually get ready to leave the house in 90 seconds." Are Palestinians laughing themselves to death?

One just needs to look at the pictures of where the rockets are fired from to see who is putting who at risk

ALL Palestinian violence is PROVOKED. Here's the timeline: sniper killings at Ofer; killings of Yeshiva students in revenge; Op: "Brother's Keeper" to "find" them leaving eight dead in West Bank; sadistic settler revenge killing of Muhammad Abu Khdeir (burnt alive) and savage beating of American cousin; rocket fire from vigilantes in Gaza in RESPONSE to Israeli violence; Op: "Protective Edge" and present orgy of sadism. Israel has escalated cynically at EVERY stage, pointing to the last

(contd.) provoked Palestinian reaction as jusitification for each exponential increase. But there is ONE audacious and ruthless political strategy going on: Op: Save Bibi's Butt (politically) by placating the lunatic far right who have been calling him a wimp and threatening to undermine the Likud coalition AND Op: Blast Palestinian political aspirations back to the Stone Age aka ENTRENCH the status quo with a newly demonised Hamas (though Hamas resigned and recognised Israel), the "Unity"

(contd.) government in tatters; dreams of statehood crushed and the people bludgeoned into despair. For those who suspected Bibi's promise to the dying Benzion was "NO Palestinian state on my watch", this orgy of destruction is tantamount to proof that it was.

6-8, Ian, I'm not sure what fairyland you live in, but it is clear you live in one of them. Your linkages could be plausible if there were direct cause and effect, but such exists only for a couple of the events you mention. The bottom line is increased missile launches from Gaza caused this situation and Hamas has only itself to blame.

"Hamas resigned and recognized Israel" When?

@Ian (6-8), you forget to mention the extra judicial killings of the two PRC members in Gaza, which was caught on CCTV when their car was bombed by Israel. That upset the PRC & they fired a couple of rockets back in remembrance (after most of the above had taken place, of course).

#9 "Your linkages could be plausible if there were direct cause and effect..." Meaningless, Outlier. The tit for tat, "cause and effect" violence goes back in an unbroken chain to the original sin which is clearly the Nakba in 1948. Or do you deny that? "The bottom line is increased missile launches from Gaza caused this situation..." No, the Nakba/occupation caused this situation. "...increased missile launches" is simply a REACTION to the latest cynical provocation. Rocket fire from Gaza

(contd.) is something Israel turns on and off like a tap to achieve its goals, foremost of which is to keep Palestinians divided and, above all, VIOLENT.

#10 ' "Hamas resigned and recognized Israel" When?' Hamas is a political party with members in Gaza and the West Bank. It is not PART OF the government of technocrats but it SUPPORTS it. The unity government has recognised Israel within its legal border and renounced violent resistance. Hamas supports the policy and consequently resigned from office. It didn't however renounce the right to retaliate (however unwise or ineffective it might be) when subject to savage, disproportionate attack.

#12 "@Ian (6-8), you forget to mention the extra judicial killings of the two PRC members in Gaza..." Yes, I could've included those killings and every other criminal act Israel has committed. But the thing is, Israel has ALWAYS just killed someone or demolished something (leaving someone homeless) or encroached further on Palestinian land perpetuating the endless cycle of calculated provocation and (violent) resistance.
