RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Fourteen Palestinians were injured late Wednesday during clashes with Israeli soldiers at Qalandiya checkpoint.

Witnesses said dozens of youths gathered near the military checkpoint and hurled rocks and empty bottles at Israeli soldiers.

Some youths also threw Molotov cocktails and set off fireworks, which hit three Israeli soldiers.

The demonstration was organized by youth groups who called for a rally in support of Gaza.

Israeli troops used live ammunition and rubber-coated steel bullets to disperse a crowd which had marched on the checkpoint, with the group reforming and hurling rocks at soldiers.

A gunfight was also reported between Israeli soldiers and Palestinian gunmen late Wednesday in the Ramallah district, with no injuries reported.
