RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- The Palestinian president called on Palestinians around the world to limit their celebration of the upcoming Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr to religious rituals only, stressing the suffering of the people of Gaza.

President Mahmoud Abbas wished Palestinians well on the occasion of Eid, which marks the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, by wishing that all Palestinians would be united under an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

The President called for limiting the celebrations to religious rituals only out of respect for the Palestinians living under continuous Israeli attacks in Gaza Strip.

Shame Abbas ignored the 100,000 people, primarily Muslims, killed in the Syrian civil war. Sad commentary.

My heart is always with Gaza & Palestine. This Eid Al Fitr will be no exception, Eid will be very quiet for me.
