Palestinian minister injured during Qalandia rally

RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- President of the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics Ola Awad was shot and injured in the foot on Thursday night during a rally in solidarity with Gaza at Qalandia checkpoint on Thursday night.

Local sources told Ma'an that Awad and her son took part in the rally, which marched from al-Amari refugee camp to Qalandia checkpoint between Ramallah and Jerusalem.

Israeli troops fired at the protestors and Awad was hit in the foot.

She was taken to the Makassed Hospital on the Mount of Olives in East Jerusalem.

One Palestinians was killed and more than 200 injured during the protest, in which more than 20,000 participants took part.
