BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli media reported Saturday that minutes after a temporary humanitarian ceasefire expired, rocket sirens were heard in southern Israel and Gaza militants fired mortar shells across the border.

Mortar shells hit open areas in Eshkol Regional Council, Israeli newspaper Haaretz said on its website.

Additionally, rocket sirens went off in the south of Israel, the report said.

Later, at around 9:20, rocket sirens were heard again in Sha'ar HaNegev in southern Israel.

Just before 10:00 p.m., Haaretz reported that Israel's Iron Dome had intercepted two rockets above Ashkelon.

Media had reported earlier that the Israeli cabinet had agreed to extend the ceasefire until midnight, though no formal announcement was made.

It was not initially clear whether Hamas' al-Qassam Brigades and other militant groups in Gaza had agreed to extend the truce.

-1- HAMAS resumed ATTACKS on Israel FIRST, AND ISRAEL just RESPONDED to being attacked, which is -2- how this 2014 war started in the first place, -3- how this 2012 war started in the first place, -4- how this 2009 war started in the first place, and -5- how this 2006 war started in the first place !!!!!

Let the sirens wail! May the zionist criminals never know a moment's peace as long as the occupiers remain. From the river to the sea, Palestine shall be free!
