GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- At least 14 Palestinians were killed and dozens were injured as Israeli forces shelled the northern Gaza Strip Tuesday, a Ma'an reporter said.
Witnesses said several homes in Jabaliya refugee camp were shelled heavily, and that many bodies remain under the rubble of destroyed buildings.
Seven of the bodies were identified by a health ministry spokesman as Hana Naim Balata, Duaa Naim Balata, Israa Naim Balata, Mariam Naim Balata, Yahiya Naim Balata, Sahar Matawa Balata, and Naim Nathmi.
Israeli forces late Monday had sent warning messages to residents of northern Gaza to evacuate to central Gaza City.
However, some residents of Gaza City said they had also received messages warning them to leave their homes.
An Israeli army spokeswoman said she was unfamiliar with any warning messages being sent to Gaza City residents.
Nearly 1,200 Palestinians have been killed and almost 7,000 injured in the 22 days since the start of the Israeli offensive on Gaza.
Palestinian militants have killed 53 soldiers since Israeli forces invaded by land on July 17, according to the Israeli military.
