GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Gaza's Ministry of Interior said Wednesday that Israel was "intentionally" targeting Palestinian civil defense crews.

Ministry spokesman Iyad al-Buzm said two civil defense workers had been among the dead in Israel's shelling of a marketplace in Gaza City's Shujaiyya neighborhood, which left at least 17 dead Wednesday.

The two civil defense workers were identified as Rami Kamal Thahir and Ahed Abed Rabbu al-Dahduh.

Five other civil defense workers were injured in the attack.

Al-Buzm said seven civil defense workers had been killed since the beginning of the Israeli offensive, that and 26 others had been injured.

"We will not back out from providing services to our people no matter what the sacrifices are," al-Buzm said.
