BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- An man in southern Israel was injured after a rocket fired by Gaza militants hit a building, Israeli media reported.

The man, a 30-year-old Chinese national, suffered shrapnel wounds to the shoulder after after building was hit by the rocket indirectly, Ynet said in a report.

Israel's army said in a statement that three rockets "were intercepted above Kiryat Gat," and that "a civilian was injured as a result."

The army statement said that 60 rockets had been launched from Gaza into Israel since midnight Wednesday.

Rockets have killed three civilians since the beginning of Israel's ongoing offensive on Gaza.

Militants have fired thousands of rockets at Israel throughout the assault, with most of them landing in open areas without causing injuries or damages, or being intercepted by the Iron Dome.

Over 1,400 Palestinians -- over 80 percent of them civilians according to rights groups -- have been killed by Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip since the beginning of Operation Protective Edge.
