WASHINGTON (AFP) -- The US Congress approved $225 million for Israel's Iron Dome anti-missile defense system, credited with shooting down rockets fired by Gaza militants before they reach their targets.

House of Representatives approved the funding by 395-8 in a late Friday vote. The Senate earlier approved the measure unanimously before the start of its five week summer recess.

The measure now awaits President Barack Obama's signature.

The emergency spending funds, which adds to the US deficit, will restock Israel's Iron Dome system with interceptor missiles.

The funding is part of the administration's request of $3.1 billion for military assistance to Israel, the world's largest beneficiary of US foreign aid.

Congress appropriated $235 million to Iron Dome last year.

The White House had originally requested about $176 million for the system for 2015, but lawmakers increased the amount. Congress often increases funding for Israeli security projects sought by the president.

The American leadership, all those supporting them and all those doing nothing to stop them have the blood of innocent children on their hands. Ignorance is no excuse, these days we all have access to information and we can see the truth if only we try a little.

GOP is deficit hawks when it comes to domestic funding. Not so when it's aid to Israel. Jewish lobbies fund GOP campaigns; they in turn vote to fund more aids to Israel. Who speaks for the American taxpayers?

No wonder Israel used that much firepower, between the Iron-Dome and aircraft missiles and other amunitions in Gaza and elsewhere since the US will ressuply them afterwards. Forget about Hamas for a minute, if the US Congress stop supplying Israel with weapons, peace would have been in the region long time ago. Personaly I put the blame on the US, than Israel and than Hamas in that order.

the whole story about an Israel Soldier being "Kidnapped", since when in war is a soldier "Kidnapped". however, that was the lie told by the Zionist to get the $255 million that we were holding up. If Hamas had a soldier, they would have no problem admitting it and using it for leverage. Also, since the Zionist broke the cease fire, it made Kerry (aka Koehn) and Ban Ki-Moon like like idiots, so that story of the soldier was manufactured for more killing and more $$$$$$$

How dare USA allow Israel to shoot down rockets and defend themselves while not harming anyone else. Palestinians should be able to shoot rockets at kindergartens in peace!
