BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- A rocket fired at Israel from the Gaza Strip hit a house near Bethlehem before an agreed-upon ceasefire went into effect at 8:00 a.m., a Ma'an reporter said.

The rocket, fired with several others that fell in open areas in Israel or were intercepted, struck the home of the Attoun family in the West Bank town of Beit Sahour.

No injuries were reported, but the rocket caused damages to the upper floor of a building.

The electricity network in the area was also damaged.

Some 17 rockets were fired at Israel just minutes before the three-day ceasefire between Israeli forces and Gaza militants came into effect, an army statement said.

Palestinian militant groups in Gaza have launched thousands of rockets at Israel since the beginning of its deadly offensive on Gaza.

The rockets usually land in open areas in southern Israel, causing no damage, or are intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system.

Three civilians have died in Israel from Palestinian rocket fire since the start of the Israeli assault.

Israeli airstrikes, artillery, and other attacks on Gaza have killed some 1,867 people and injured nearly 10,000.

As always, Mel is upset that the rocket didn't kill 100 Jews or an Israeli nuclear power plant. There are always a demented and perverted minority who want to see more war and more bloodshed. The vast majority of us want peace. We're hoping that Hamas stays out of Beit Sahour and leaves the people there alone so that they can make peace, not jihad like Hamas (and Mel?) wants.

Maybe, just maybe if Hamas didn’t divert humanitarian funds, and resources bomb shelters could have been built. When Gaza was “occupied” life was much better. The fact that homes, pools ect. were destroyed negates arguments of an open air camp. Also, the numbers of dead etc. are released by the PA, and Hamas and I’m sure are highly inflated. Of course innocents are killed, but only the Gazans can fight this fight against Hamas freeing themselves from the oppressive grip of Hamas.

Purposeful targeting of civilians is unacceptable. Relative numbers of deaths and destruction don't tell the story. None of us would accept the bombing of our country!

Ironic that Hamas rockets are destroying Palestinian homes.

I think Mel has become completely unglued. Is there a medic on the net?

Ahhh. poor Mel is mad that more Jews were not killed. Well that's what Hamas gets for being so stupid as to launch this dumb war. One day, I hope the people of Gaza have the courage to get rid of these terrorist bums who think nothing of sacrificing the women and children for their little Islamic turd hole. Hamas and IJ are just as bad if not worse than ISIS.
