NABLUS (Ma'an) -- Unidentified gunmen opened fire at a university professor near his home in Nablus on Tuesday.

Abd al-Sattar Qasim told Ma'an that a masked man fired at him with a handgun while he was leaving his home in the al-Jadidah neighborhood.

The gunman had exited a vehicle with another man, who was holding a baton, before opening fire. A third man was waiting in the car.

Qasim was not injured in the incident.

The professor, who is a supporter of Hamas, has in the past accused the Palestinian Authority security services of failing to do their job properly.

He has been subject to harassment and has been attacked several times in the past.
