BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- The Egyptian ambassador to Palestine said Tuesday that a 72-hour ceasefire will create a window to create further serious negotiations to create a lasting truce.

Wael Nasr al-Deen Atiyeh told Ma’an that during the ceasefire the Rafah crossing will be opened to receive the injured during the assault, and to let aid into the Gaza Strip.

Twenty fully equipped ambulances have been prepared to take the injured to Egyptian hospitals, and a mobile clinic was established to treat the wounded, he said.

He added that over 1,000 tons of urgent aid supplies, food, medicine, and medical supplies entered the crossing in the last four weeks.
