GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- At least 134 factories were destroyed during Israel's four-week military offensive in the Gaza Strip, a Palestinian industrial union said Wednesday, causing severe damage to an already fragile industrial sector.

The union of Palestinian industries said that most factories stopped operations for over 30 days, with reported losses of at least $70 million.

Over 30,000 workers were made redundant due to the closures.

"The Israeli war machine deliberately destroyed the infrastructure of the Palestinian national economy by targeting factories which posed no security threat to the occupation," the union said.

The industrial sector had already suffered major damage during previous Israeli military offenses in Gaza in 2012 and 2008.

The ongoing Israeli blockade has also severely limited the productivity of the industrial sector since it was imposed eight years ago, forcing factories to close or fire workers to remain in operation.

"Israel shouldn't be rewarded for this aggression, and so Israeli products should be boycotted both locally and internationally," the union added.

Deputy PA economy minister Taysir Amro said the 29-day war had caused total damage of up to $6 billion dollars.

As Wilson Pickett said its too late to cry now. Palestinians started a war after Hamas had funded and paid a Hamas operative in the West bank to arrange for the kidnapping and murder of three Israeli youths. It is too late to cry. Palestinians have to suffer the natural consequences of their ill advised actions.

# 1) & 2)... both of you and most likely your country men/women are IGNORANT and THICK and do not understand the suffering of Palestinians. Look at your own histories and the sacrificies which your countrymen have made to be free from oppression. So all 134 facotires were manufacturing missles / rockets? Even the UN Sec Gen confirms the crimes commited by barbaric Israeli's. SO STOP LECTURING OTHERS.

The schools, hospitals, homes, roads powerplants, sewer systems ect. were all supportive of Hamas according to Israel and those who support this massive one sided onslaught on the Palestinian people. This is no less than an act of genocide and can be easily recognized by the resulting carnage from the assault. Those who use the firing of missiles by Hamas as justification of attacks tend to forget that Israel has modern forms of defense (Iron Dome) that prevented @99.999 from striking Israel.

3,4. Actually, 1 and 2 are basically correct. Consequences of starting a conflict can be huge and those consequences should always be considered before starting one. Hamas erred this time.
