NABLUS (Ma'an) -- More than 15 Palestinians were injured in clashes near Nablus on Friday as rage mounted across the West Bank over Israel's 33-day assault against the Gaza Strip that has killed more than 1,900.

The injured in the clashes with Israeli forces at Beit Furik checkpoint east of Nablus included two journalists.

Palestinian medical sources said that several young men were struck by live ammunition and were evacuated to Rafidia Hospital in Nablus during the clashes with Israeli forces in the area.

The sources highlighted that Palestinian photojournalist Alaa Badarna was hit by a rubber-coated bullet in the leg.

Another photojournalist, Abdul-Rahim al-Qusini, reportedly was beaten by Israeli soldiers.

Among the other young men who were injured during the clashes were 21-year-old Ghazi Mahmoud Abu al-Jabaan, 20-year-old Saddam Hussein Bani Audah and 20-year-old Samir Abu al-Reesh.

Palestinian security sources said Israeli forces detained five young men during the clashes after beating them severely. Usayd Tawfiq Hanani, 18, and Madyn Wael Hanani, 19 were among the detainees.

At least 17 Palestinians have been killed across the West Bank in Israeli violence since the beginning of the assault on Gaza, as tens of thousands have turned out for near daily rallies in solidarity with the besieged Gaza Strip.
