DOHA, Qatar (AFP) -- A lasting truce must lead to the lifting by Israel of its blockade of the Gaza Strip, Hamas chief Khalid Mashaal said in an interview in Doha on Sunday.

The 72-hour ceasefire Hamas reached with Israel on Sunday "is one of the ways or tactics to ensure successful negotiations or to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza," said Meshaal.

The final "goal we insist on is having the demands of Palestinians met and the Gaza Strip exist without a blockade".

"We insist on this goal. In the case of Israeli procrastination or continued aggression, Hamas is ready with other Palestinian factions to resist on ground and politically and... to face all possibilities," he said.

The remarks by Meshaal, who lives in exile in Qatar, come as Israeli and Palestinian negotiators on Sunday accepted an Egyptian proposal for a 72-hour ceasefire in Gaza from one minute past midnight local time.

Israel insists that the blockade is needed to prevent weapons from being imported to Gaza. The fair resolution? Have Israelis monitor every ship that offloads at Gaza ports. Is that so much to ask? Draw up a list of what constitutes contraband and agree on it. Hamas should have no issues with that- if they really want the blockade lifted. Well Hamas, can you be trusted? Unless you rip up your charter and reinvent yourself, the world thinks not. Rip up you charter and reinvent yourself. Do it.

Bravo Mishaal!Palestine is asking for NOTHING MORE than what INTRNTNL LAWS stipulate as its LEGAL RIGHT.Geneva Cons,Universal/Common laws,UNGA & even US laws, confirm that.If USG(Israel's patron)wasn't so selectively CONTEMPTUOUS of all laws while aiding/abetting Israeli-Jewish BRUTALITY,then Palestine'd be FREE of 67 yrs Zionist WAR CRIMES.And Palestine,UK,EU could TRADE again,as B4. But USG OCCUPIES EU economy too,so all the old Euro,Pal/Leb/Syr/Iraq,Egy.trade is SACRIFICED,just for Zionism!

For God's sake stop these hasbara points about Hamas charter. It's an ancient document that has no relevance. Hamas has made several conciliatory statements after that. The last was the unitary government effort complying with all agreements of the Palestinian Authority towards Israel. NuttyYahoo did everything he could to derail it, including massacring children. Look at Likud's charter, denying the existence of Palestinians. That statement is still valid. So much for Israelis wanting peace.

There is no way any civilized country would accept ridiculous Hamas demands to allow Hamas to re-arm and start building attack tunnels again. Hamas is not going to stop shooting because they are jihadists - their aim is to kill or be killed. That is their goal. That is their purpose. Go to the Hamas website and see for yourselves "This is Jihad - victory or martyrdom". The blockade will not be lifted because Hamas will never agree to the rule of international law.

It's always the same thing.. Hamas should re invent. It's quite clear from the going ons that the terrorist state, vile and evil is Israel.. How about they change and take responsibility for all the resolutions broken. And allow people to live freely.. Israel's scare tactics are to be blamed!!!! Long live Hamas long live the resistance!!!!
