Israeli forces erect checkpoints around Hebron, detain man

HEBRON (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained a Palestinian man at a military checkpoint erected around Hebron on Tuesday, Palestinian security sources said.

Checkpoints were erected at Halhul bridge and the northern entrance to the West Bank's largest city, including areas around al-Fawwar refugee camp and bypass roads 35 and 60.

The man detained was not identified.

Israeli forces detained six Palestinians overnight in Hebron.

Thaer Aziz Halahla, 33, was detained during a raid on his home, together with Muhammad Jamal Talab, Ahmad al-Uweiwi, and Firas al-Uweiwi.

In Yatta, two teenage shepherds were detained while tending to their sheep. They were identified as Ahmad Shawarin, 19, and Ibrahim Issa Shawahin, 18.

Meanwhile, in the Nablus district, four Palestinians were arrested, the Palestinian Prisoner's Society said.

PPS director Raed Amir said Israeli forces raided Osarin village south of Nablus and detained Rabih Raslan Adili, 17, and Ahmad Jamal Adili, 19.

In Tell, southwest of Nablus, Israeli troops arrested 22-year-old Mousa al-Hindi, and in Burqa to the north soldiers arrested Ahmad Izzat Daghlas.

An Israeli army spokeswoman said 12 Palestinians were detained in the West Bank overnight.
