GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Thousands of Palestinians marched in the funerals of three Hamas leaders and seven members of the Kallab and Younis families in Rafah on Thursday, as Israel continued to pound Gaza throughout the day.

Representatives and members of a wide variety of Palestinian political factions marched in the funerals, which set off from al-Awdah Mosque in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.

In addition to the three Hamas commanders Muhammad Abu Shammala, Raed al-Attar and Muhammad Barhoum that were killed in Israeli airstrikes, Hasan Hussein Younis, 75, his wife Amal Ibrahim Younis, Ahmad Nasser Kallab, 17, Nathira Kallab, Aisha Attiya, and children Abdullah Kallab and Youssef Kallab were also mourned in the funeral march.

A Hamas spokesman said earlier that the killing of Hamas commanders would not break the will of Palestinians nor of the Palestinian resistance, adding that Israel will pay for their deaths.

Israel's army said Abu Shammala was the most senior Hamas military operative in the southern Gaza Strip and had orchestrated incursions into southern Israel.

Al-Attar's role was to smuggle weapons and recruit military personnel in the Rafah region, according to Israel's army.

Both men were also allegedly behind the capture of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.

More than 2,070 Palestinians have been killed and more than 10,300 injured in more than 40 days of Israeli bombardment, which has also left more than 100,000 homeless.

It would appear that three of its most senior commanders from the Izz A-Din Al-Qassam Brigades in Rafah were actually killed overnight, when they put their heads above ground. Riad al-Attar, the senior among them, as well as Mohammed Abu Shmala and Mohammed Barhoum. All keen as mustard to meet their respective seventy two year old virgin. Top marks to the Shin Bet as well as the IAF

Of course,as far as Israel's concerned, anyone in Gaza is a"Hamas"/"I/J" target.Even babies in utero.Zionist-indoctrinated Jews believe Palestinian children are born with "rockets" in their tiny hands. That's how screwed upZionist/Israeli Jews are. And,as much as killing innocent Palestinians leads to MORE resistance coming(cause-effect),Israel WANTS/NEEDS that resistance with"rockets" to JUSTIFY more disproportionate slaughter, rather than MAKE TRUE PEACE with a sovereign(pre-67)Palestine! FOOLS!!

While the criminal Zionists have billions of dollars and countless news agencies at their disposal, it is incomprehensible that Ma'an continues to serve as a megaphone ... Or, the only explanation is perhaps that the hate felt by Ma'an against Palestinian resistance, breaks all barriers.

@#1: Trudi, Interesting how you mock people for their extreme religious ideas and the widely reported "virgins" reward. Don't forget that Israel exists because religious fanatics believe God gave them the land and its there mission to create a Jewish majority utopia, similar to Hitlers pure Aryan dream. So how to create a Jewish majority where the majority were not Jewish? By terror, murder, theft, and the destruction of over 400 villages.

These three were killed with civilians because they hid in residential homes during a war so that when they die civilians die too. They caused the deaths of their wives and old people
